Our Exciting Work Environment

This position will be based out of Employers new global headquarters, a state-of-the-art, 12-story, mixed-use building in downtown Buffalo, N.Y. The headquarters facility, reflective of our values, integrates the latest advances in environmental, energy conservation and office design.

The Opportunity
  • Perform financial and operational analyses with the goal of improving the efficiency of subsidiary operations.
  • Ensure conformance to corporate policy and make recommendations to executive management based on results of analysis.
  • Prepare and review weekly and monthly projections and the annual budget model.
  • Compile and prepare reports, analyze financial performance trends, discuss variances and consolidate into financial statements.
  • Modify structure & presentation of financial reports to reflect changes in the business.
  • Support operation finance and accounting personnel with financial models (weekly reporting, forecasts, annual budget and proformas) and finance systems.
  • Create and manage reports as necessary ensuring data is accurate.
  • Troubleshoot reporting or financial system problems for operations.
  • Perform regular or ad hoc analysis of financial and operational developments that affect the financial results/performance of operating subsidiaries daily, weekly, and/or monthly.
  • Examine costs, financial results and other pertinent data.
  • Ensure conformance to corporate policy and make recommendations to executive management based on results of analysis.
  • Assist operation finance in the preparation of annual budgets; review budgets for accuracy; discuss budget variances, problems with management; consolidate plans into company financial statements, upload data into online data repositories and confirm accuracy of uploads.
  • Ensure subsidiaries and corporate budget submissions are consistent with direction given by executive management, and guide units through multiple budget changes.
  • Develop PowerPoint presentations for Employer executive management to be used in annual budget meetings and for other major meetings as necessary.
  • Assist in preparing projections of financial results for operations; compare projections to operating plan.
  • Provide commentaries regarding subsidiary financial reports, budgets to management; highlight variances, problems, recommend action to be take
  • Assist in preparing pro forma analysis of potential acquisitions or investments in existing operations.
  • Convert financial analysis into presentations for senior management and company Investment Committee.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelors Degree Finance or Accounting
  • 3-5 years of experience required
  • Experience working with financial reporting and analysis, specifically with experience in forecasting and planning.
  • Strong analytical experience in finance related function.
  • Experience with financial data and ability to extract information and prepare projections and reports with the information provided.
  • Highly organized and attentive to details
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work with and communicate with senior leadership
  • Strong Excel skills
